Lord Krehn | About
Lord Krehn is a metal musician based out of Denver, Colorado that blends black metal, death metal, industrial metal, and other elements into his music. Lord Krehn is a stage name moniker given in the early 2000s while performing drummer for Blind Nation.
After the split of Blind Nation, Lord Krehn played in other local Denver bands such as Origin of Demise and Maruth. Ultimately, when other bands split for variety of reasons, he went on to create music as a solo artist.
His music, while primarily of the black metal genre, doesn't have similar themes that often become intertwined with black metal such as satanism. Instead, his music tends to focus on the darker side of humanity and extreme aspects of the world.
His first album was titled Parallels released in 2011. In his debut, he handled all recordings included guitars, drums, keyboards, and vocals. Parallels focuses around the biblical stories of the anti-Christ, with the focus of a self-proclaimed Jesus coming back to earth and people mistakingly worshiping the anti-Christ. It begs the question: how would we know?
In his follow-up album, E(Volve) in 2013, he covered more genres of music using different tunings throughout the album. While the album can be primarily boiled to blackened death metal, it features industrial music as well. E(Volve) combines the words "evolve" and the latin word "volve" - to turn over in the mind. When writing this album, he imagined the creation of the world and the world's ultimate destruction while trying to bridge the two with music.
After E(Volve), Lord Krehn took a hiatus from music after getting married and having two children. He also moved multiple times and didn't have space to record any music. He also had to find a new DAW to record music. This took a lot of time to trial around with various DAWs and find one he liked, and ultimately switched from Acid PRO to Cubase Elements.
There was another album in the works that was primarily acoustic cover songs that covered songs varying from Korn to Slipknot, Symphony X, Nine Inch Nails, and REM. However, the recordings were ultimately lost.
In his latest effort, A Haunting at Dawn in 2025, the theme covers the question "Why do we fear the dark?" The darkness is beautiful with the moon and stars. It's peaceful and quiet - why should we fear it? What would we fear most? The answer is dawn. People and the conformity, lies, and the cultural aspects are more fearful than the dark and A Haunting at Dawn covers this theme.
